Abstract Computerized monitoring in a neonatal intensive care unit allows continuous registration and complete storage of vital parameters. The stored data can be used for detailed retrospective analysis of critically ill patients and the graphical presentation of the vital parameters may lead to an earlier recognition of clinical deterioration. This computer system which can be established in any intensive care unit demonstrates the improvement in neonatal intensive care monitoring at low financial costs.
