Abstract Home monitoring has been increasingly adopted by pediatricians to help in the prevention of sudden infant death syndrome. The home monitor can be made reliable, easy to operate, inexpensive, and capable of data storage. This can be done by using a microprocessor and a minimum number of integrated circuit chips. Simple real-time algorithms and digital hardware have been developed to achieve this goal.
